Justin Vernon returns with a new project.
Bon Iver, a.k.a. Justin Vernon, has announced details of his fifth album. SABLE, fABLE is due on April 11 via Jagjaguwar. It follows an EP, titled SABLE, that Vernon released last fall. The three songs on that project make up the opening section of the upcoming album.
The first single from SABLE, fABLE will debut this Friday, February 14. “Everything Is Peaceful Love” will arrive alongside a video directed by John Wilson, the fimmaker behind the cult HBO series How To With John Wilson.

Produced by Justin Vernon and Jim-E Stack, SABLE, fABLE was primarily recorded at Vernon’s Wisconsin studio, April Base. Danielle Haim appears on the album, as do Dijon and Jenn Wasner under her Flock of Dimes moniker.
Press materials suggest that the unheard part of the album represent a gear shift from Vernon, whose previous two albums (2016’s 22, A Million and 2019’s i,i) were defined by a distorted aesthetic and heavy use of AutoTune.
“fABLE looks towards a vibrant future filled with light, purpose and possibility: a partner, new memories, perhaps a family,” a press release reads. “The previous four albums were a cycle of seasons that is now complete; SABLE, fABLE is a canvas for truth laid bare.”
