The superstar will host and be the musical guest for an upcoming episode.

In the midst of promoting her upcoming new album Mayhem, Lady Gaga has been announced as an upcoming host and musical guest for Saturday Night Life. The superstar will pull double duty on the March 8 episode, just a day after Mayhem will be released.

The last time Gaga performed and hosted in the same episode was back in November 2013, where she performed “Do What U Want” (in an R. Kelly-featuring performance that didn’t age well) and “Gypsy.” At this point the singer’s an SNL veteran, having appeared on the show four separate times. Just this past Saturday she performed at the sketch comedy’s 50th anniversary special, singing “D*ck In A Box” with Andy Samburg. In 2023, she also made a minor cameo to introduce host and musical guest Bad Bunny.

Pulling double duty has become one of a SNL’s longest traditions, a mantle that’s now been held by several high-profile musicians over the years. Besides Gaga, artists like Ariana Grande, Charli xcx, Bad Bunny, and more have all recently pulled double duty for the sketch show, highlighting something that’s more clear than ever: that singers are kinda great as actors too. While we wait for Gaga’s second try, see some highlights from the last time she hosted and performed on SNL.
