Halle Bailey’s request for a restraining order against DDG has been successful, Billboard and TMZ reports. DDG, real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. is a prominent streamer and released his latest album, Blame the Chat, earlier this month. He is also Bailey’s former partner and the father of her 1-year-old son. The couple split in 2024.
It was first reported on Tuesday, May 13, that Bailey has filed a police report against Granberry, claiming he had attacked her on multiple occasions. Court documents obtained by Billboard show Bailey alleging that “things got physical” between the former couple in January of this year.
The documents include Bailey’s allegation that Granberry pulled her hair, slammed her face on the steering wheel of his car, chipping her tooth, after becoming agitated with her as she strapped Halo into the vehicle. Bailey says she then traveled with him to his house where she told his family what happened and left the baby with them.
Bailey detailed two further instances of violence, one in March and another this past weekend. The most recent alleged incident is said to have begun with Granberry mistakenly believing she was on holiday with the musician Brent Faiyaz. In court documents she states she was travelling with her mother and Halo.
Additionally, Bailey asked the judge for a cease-and-desist order to prevent Granberry from “posting and/or streaming on any and all platforms about Halo and/or me. He is a YouTube and Twitch Blogger and creates a fan frenzy by making false claims about me. This has caused me to feel afraid and victimized. His fans then threaten me. I am often scared for my life and Halo’s safety.”
A hearing scheduled for June 4 will determine whether a more permanent restraining order will be required.
