From the Marty Supreme trailer return to an unexpected Lana Del Rey beef, this is what The FADER editors are talking about.
Taylor Swift is a podcaster now
Well, kind of. She appeared on a mammoth episode of Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights to announce details of her new album. The Last Showgirl will be released on October 3 and will feature a guest appearance from Sabrina Carpenter. Speaking about her Max Martin-co-produced 12th album on the pod, Swift told her boyfriend Travis that it is “exuberant, electric, and vibrant.”

MF Doom’s estate are suing Temu
The estate of MF DOOM launched a lawsuit against Temu, accusing the online retailer of selling bootleg merchandise of the late rapper. Gas Drawls LLC, the company co-founded by DOOM before his passing in 2020, alleges that Temu sells unauthorized versions of official products available on MF DOOM’s official store including hats, shirts, and posters. DOOM’s estate also points to the possibility of bootleg merch linking DOOM’s brand with Temu, which the suit calls “one of the most unethical companies operating in today’s global marketplace.” Ouch.
Lana Del Rey has beef with Ethel Cain
As she likes to do, Lana Del Rey shared a snippet of new music with fans online this week. Fans watching her as she sat in her car and bobbed along to the untitled song noticed something a little different in the lyrics: a not so positive Ethel Cain namecheck. It seems the pair have a long and knotted history involving a man, online comments, and an Instagram pic from Cook County Jail.
SZA has an exciting new job
She has been named Vans’ first-ever artistic director. As part of the deal, SZA will help develop campaigns and co-create exclusive collections. “In Vans, I feel free!” SZA said in a statement. “My mission is to show that joy, community, creativity, and fashion are all still intersectional. That humanity, culture, and connection are still the access points.”
Marty Supreme looks intense
Marty Supreme, the new movie from director Josh Safdie, has a wildly eclectic cast. Timothée Chalamet is the lead and stars alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Canadian billionaire Kevin O’Leary, and Tyler, The Creator. They all come together for the big screen adaptation of professional table tennis player Marty Reisman’s life story. Could this be the movie that secures Timmy his first Oscar?
