Playboi Carti shares two new songs via Instagram

The new tracks, unofficially titled “Alive” and “Some More,” were released following Kanye West’s leak of a different version of the former song.
Yesterday, Kanye West posted a new song on his Twitter called “Alive” featuring a verse from NBA YoungBoy. That release apparently prompted Playboi Carti, who dropped MUSIC this year and is notorious for taking long breaks between returns, to share the allegedly original version of the song in a new music video. The post’s caption targets Kanye: “DIS MY SONG LIL BRA @ye.” A few hours later, he shared another music video containing a brand new song; that one is being called “Some More” by fans after what appears to be the song’s title in the video post’s caption. Check out both new songs below
Why are Playboi Carti and Kanye beefing?
Playboi Carti and Kanye West’s relationship became strained soon after the release of Carti’s album MUSIC. West took issue with his removal from the album — prompted by his string of antisemitic statements and embrace of the Nazi party — as well as Carti asking Kim Kardashian, Kanye’s ex-wife and mother of their daughter North West, for a verse from North. West went on to post numerous tweets targeting Carti, leading Carti to tweet “YE STFU” on March 19.
What’s the status of Carti’s new project Baby Boi?
Not long after MUSIC dropped, Carti’s DJ Swamp Izzo claimed that the project’s follow-up Baby Boi was completed and that between 50 and 60 songs had been recorded. “Completed to his liking? I couldn’t say,” Izzo said. “But they’re done.” And while no release date has emerged since then, last week Carti said that he was “pushin” the new tape, writing “IM ON ONE THIS YEAR.”
