“My heart is so full. She is my hero,” Doechii later said on social media.
Doechii is having a pretty wild 2025 so far, whether she is killing it at the Grammys or serving looks in Paris, it seems that everything she does raises her star power even higher. Lauryn Hill is clearly among those who have been paying attention and invited her on stage in Miami over the weekend to perform “Doo Wop (That Thing)” with her. Scroll down to see footage of their collaboration below.
The performance happened during Hill’s show at the Jazz in the Gardens Festival at Hard Rock Stadium on March 8. Doechii had performed earlier in the day and returned to the main stage during the headline set. “I want to introduce y’all to another sister” Hill said as she welcomed Doechii to the stage and launched into her 1998 hit single.
“Thank you Miss Lauryn Hill,” Doechii posted online the following morning. “Thank you. My heart is so full. She is my hero. This is the greatest honor hip-hop could give me. Praise God … my entire body is vibrating with joy right now. I’ll never forget this day! EVER!” She added, “I’ve never been so nervous in my life. She is a QUEEN.”
Last week Doechii dropped “Anxiety,” a song that samples Gotye‘s 2011 hit “Somebody That I Used to Know.” Doechii’s track is a loosie from a few years back and was never officially released. However, when it started trending on TikTok, Doechii and her TDE label shared the finished version on streaming platforms.
