GloRilla arrested for marijuana possession during investigation of burglary at her Atlanta home

The rapper’s attorneys have called the police response “disturbing.”

GloRilla has been released on bond after being arrested by police officers who found marijuana while investigating a burglary that occurred on Saturday at her Atlanta property.

The rapper was charged with possession of a controlled substance and felony marijuana possession. On Tuesday, she turned herself in to officers at Forsyth County Jail before being released on a $22,260 bond.

The burglary occurred around 1:30 AM on Saturday, July 19 while GloRilla was performing at the WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis. Her family members were in the home, according to her lawyers, when three intruders reportedly entered the premises and stole jewelry from the home. The suspects fled when one of the occupants began to open fire.

Officers have failed to find the burglars, but they called a drug task force after smelling what they thought was marijuana during their investigation, according to their police report. After obtaining a search warrant, they found a “significant amount of marijuana” in a closet.

Sheriff Ron Freeman said in a statement, “The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice. At the same time, we must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case.”

Marissa Goldberg and Drew Findling, GloRilla’s attorneys, released a statement criticizing the police response, according to an article by The Washington Post.

“The arrest of Gloria Woods is a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become,” they said. “Instead of investigating the violent home invasion and theft at Ms. Woods’ home, they instead sought a search warrant when they spotted what they believed was a small amount of marijuana.”

“Long story short,” GloRIlla wrote on X, “my house gets home invaded and Im the only one that gets arrested.”
