Dethroning Drake’s “God’s Plan.”
Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar just set a new record with their Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight collaboration “goosebumps.”
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) officially confirmed that their 2016 track has been certified 17x platinum, selling over 17 million units in the United States and making it the highest-certified rap song in history. La Flame and Dot’s “goosebumps” dethrone Drake‘s “God’s Plan,” which previously held the record with a 16x platinum certification.
The track is now tied with Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road,” Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” and Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey” across all genres. Ahead of those tracks are Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” and Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” both of which are 18x platinum, and Post Malone and Swae Lee‘s “Sunflower” which is 20x platinum.
“goosebumps” was released as a single in December 2016 and was certified platinum by March 2017. It peaked at No. 32 on the Billboard Hot 100, 21 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 1 on the Rhythmic chart.
