The disgraced mogul is on track to be freed on May 8, 2028, though his appeal remains ongoing.
The Federal Board of Prisons has set Sean “Diddy” Combs’ release date for May 8, 2028, as Variety points out. Diddy was sentenced to just over 4 years in prison on October 3 after being convicted in July of federal prostitution charges; the time he spent in detention during the trial will count towards his sentence, which was reduced for good behaviour.
There is a chance that Diddy could be released earlier than the assigned date. Reports that President Donald Trump was seriously considering a pardon emerged last week, though the White House has strongly pushed back. In an August interview with Newsmax, Trump said the verdict of Diddy’s trial — he was acquitted of more serious racketeering and sex crimes charges — made the rap mogul “sort of half innocent,” but that his past support of Democrats made a pardon unlikely.
Last week, Diddy’s lawyers formally filed to appeal his conviction. Speaking with Variety in August, Diddy’s lead counsel Marc Agnifilo said he believed that his client’s acquittal on sex trafficking and racketeering charges resulted in “a massive change in circumstances” for Diddy’s case.
